Former Daytona Winner Michael Annett Returns to Famed Superspeedway Contact: Maggie Martin, Rising Star Management Group, mmartin@risingstarmg.com
Daytona Beach, Fla. (July 2, 2009) – With two superspeedway wins in the ARCA RE/MAX Series under his belt, rookie Michael Annett and his No. 15 Germain Racing team will venture to Daytona International Speedway this week for the famed track’s NASCAR Nationwide Series Subway Jalapeno 250 powered by Coca-Cola. Annett is enthused about returning to Daytona International Speedway where he won the Daytona ARCA 200 in February 2008.
“It’s great to come back to a track where I’ve had success in the past. My ARCA win at Daytona was a big achievement,” said Annett. “We had a great car back in February, but a flat tire and dead battery cost us a good finish. The guys at Germain Racing have been working hard at the shop to get ready for this weekend’s race, so I’m looking forward to getting back on track at Daytona.”
The No. 15 has added a new sponsor, Ventrilo, to their line-up for Daytona’s race. Ventrilo is a product of Flagship Industries and the premier group voice communications program used in internet-based tournaments and multiplayer games. Ventrilo initially partnered with Germain Racing as a primary sponsor for the No. 30 Camping World Truck Series entry at Kansas, and in addition is sponsoring Germain Racing’s No. 15 Ventrilo Toyota Camry for the Nationwide Series Subway Jalapeno 250 at Daytona. Pilot Travel Centers continues their support by carrying an associate position on the rear quarter panels of the No. 15 this weekend.
Starting with this weekend’s race at Daytona, the Nationwide Series will adopt a format change using double-file restarts. Friday night will mark the first time the series has used the ruling the Cup Series implemented earlier this season where lead lap cars will line up side-by-side first, then any cars that may be a down a lap(s) will fall in line for the drop of the green flag for race restarts.
“Daytona should be a great track to restart shootout style. The new double-file restart format will be great for the Nationwide Series, adding some excitement for the drivers and especially the fans,” said Annett.
The No. 15 Ventrilo Toyota Camry hits the track on Thursday for practice at 2 p.m. Final practice runs from 5:30 p.m. to 6:25 p.m. with a live broadcast on ESPN 2. Nationwide Series qualifying starts at 1 p.m. on Friday on ESPN 2. The green flag drops at 8 p.m. for Daytona International Speedway’s Subway Jalapeno 250 powered by Coca-Cola. Watch the race live on ESPN starting at 7:30 p.m.
