Loudon, N.H. (June 28, 2010) – Linked back up with NASCAR’s premier Sprint Cup Series after a three week stint of Nationwide Series non-companion races at Nashville Superspeedway, Kentucky Speedway and Road America, Michael Annett and the No. 15 Germain Racing team hit the track at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday for the Nationwide Series New England 200.
After starting 38th, Annett worked his way through the field to 25th by lap five. The first of four cautions fell on lap six, and crew chief Ryan Fugle made the call for the No. 15 Germain.com Toyota Camry to stay out on the track.
Battling a tight handling condition and a hole in the nose of the car from debris, Annett maintained his position in the top-25 until lap 93 when the second yellow flag of the race was dropped. For the first time of the day, Annett came to pit road under yellow for four new tires, fuel, an air pressure adjustment, track bar adjustment and repair of the damage to the nose of the car. The No. 15 Toyota Camry restarted 20th on lap 99.
The third caution of the 200 lap race fell on lap 146. Fugle called for Annett to stay out on the track and get the wave around.
Racing for the Lucky Dog, the fourth and final caution of the event was thrown on lap 176. Annett received the free pass and advanced to the tail end of the lead lap, restarting 19th on lap 182. The 24-year-old driver steered through the checkered flag to finish 19th in the New England 200.
Annett continues to maintain the 14th position in Nationwide Series point standings, 126 points away from the top-10.
Up next the Nationwide Series will make it’s second visit of the season to Daytona International Speedway for the Independence Day weekend Subway Jalapeno 250 powered by Coca-Cola. Friday’s race will mark the debut of the Nationwide Series new car as one of four new car points races scheduled for the 2010 season.
